Lots of cultures believe that things like grief, pain, love, joy, threat, or happiness leave a mark on us. Sometimes they believe we are born with this mark other times life events leave us marked. Somewhere at some point, someone has decided that something applies to us or that we should be governed by this element, and they assign this as a part of our identity and the truth may not be present in any of it. I believe it applies to Horses as well.
Much of the time we accept this ‘mark’ and live our lives accordingly. Without question, or without thoughts that we are free to change this at any time.
What about our Horse? What about the Horse that has been ‘marked’ as dangerous, stupid, jerk, ugly, klutzy, unworthy, hopeless, helpless, or inferior? Are these things honestly earned or are they applied because some Human was dangerous, stupid, a jerk, ugly, klutzy, unworthy, hopeless, helpless, or an uneducated or vindictive participant in a situation that determined the Horse would carry this label?
To live a life ‘marked’ by something unpleasant or hurtful is a difficult life because we have been conditioned to constantly be on guard, vulnerable and obligated to represent these words. We are expected to be these things. To be ‘marked’ by a life that blessed us with a mark of happiness, good fortune and love is a life that leaves us open and looking for the effects of these words. We innocently become a fortunate example and we go through life very open to the benefits of these words.
Did your Horse come with words that mark them? If so, do you accept them as true or have you given them opportunity to reveal a deeper truth? If the words that mark them are not pleasant or positive, can you allow yourself to become a witness to the intangible and forthright mark that your Horse carries as truth?
And if indeed your Horse acts out undesirable behavior of this mark, can you clear the energy and oppression that keeps it alive and active within the mind and energy of your Horse? Can you approach your Horse with innocent observation and allow it to reveal or reinvent in ways that are truthful and authentic? Or will your Horse be cursed with this mark forever?
Perhaps you and your Horse have been blessed and your Horse carries a mark of love and intelligence, is this all? Does your Horse carry a deep and soulful side as well? Is there a playful aspect that is looking for validation?
As Human it is easy to see our Horse a certain way and keep this assessment as true forever. But allowing our Horse to metamorphose is a rare gift of acceptance and love, one that we Humans need as well.
