Angels, Messengers of God
I believe that Horses are one of the ways that the Divine speaks to us and through us. Angels are described as being messengers of God and I view Horses as Earth Angels that come here with many messages. Sometimes they support us, sometimes they comfort us, they may lead us to adventure and unexplored aspects of ourselves. They are always the voice of soulful insight.
When we are together with our Horse{s} as friends, partners, consorts or teachers, I believe the question they inevitably ask of us is; ‘Right now, is this who you want to be? Right now, are you believing in and being who and what you want to be in this Horse/Human relationship?”
In my life, most of the time, I like who I am being with my Horses. I like that they ground me, that they bring out my animal nature bringing me closer to my senses and instincts. I like that we speak a common language about our purpose here and this language is soul language.
The question of ‘Is this who you want to be?” echo’s loud and relentless, demanding that I am accountable and honest with myself. I don’t always like this question when I find myself in conflict or challenge with my Horse. Fortunately, I rarely have conflict with my Horse(s) but when I do I can find myself acting/reacting in ways that in hindsight I do not want to be that person.
Then I suffer guilt and remorse. The Messenger has shown me that I have forgotten my ancestry as a Soul Being and consort of the Horse and have resorted to the reactions of my ego and my fear.
I love my dogs and have a wonderful partnership with them, but they do not seem to carry the power of ‘The Messenger’ that my Horses carry. Considering the role of the Horse down through our evolution as a culture we cannot deny their commitment to partner with us in every way possible and has ultimately brought us to this present day as ‘The Messenger’.
Their role as ‘The Messenger of God’ has never been clearer. Now that most of us do not need their strength to manage our daily existence we can turn our attention to the Messages they bring to us as partners and soulful guides.
The Invitation
When you are with your Horse(s), allow time in your schedule to make a practice of just listening. In times that you are in harmony together, what is being said? In times of conflict, what is the conversation? If you are estranged, whether from challenges in the relationship or challenges from life, ask for a Message and sit with it a while. Then with love and intention, form your reply, based on this Message, not your reaction or your emotions. If taken with an open heart and mind, the Message will comfort and balance your emotions, and then you can use the Message for the good of all.
