Horse Religion

After a recent diagnosis of cancer, I fell into a dark hole. With despair and anger I kept asking myself how this could be? How could I not have seen this coming? Berating myself for not being Spiritually powerful enough to prevent or heal it. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAL THIS! I expect this of myself, after all I have studied Spirituality and Metaphysics for years. And if I could not heal myself, it must be because I am Spiritually deficient, damaged, or hypocritical in my beliefs. Maybe I am being punished for not being Spiritual enough. These are thoughts I have learned from countless hours of study from the teachings of others.

My Horses were my solace. We spent hours together just being. Just communing with the essence of what was taking place. And in this time, I became acutely aware of how interwoven we are, how we speak the same language of wholeness and connection and how that during these times I find my place of belonging and emotional security… my origins… my True North.

I saw the workings of a Mystical Faith, one that has not been written and documented. One that has not been formulated or contained and labeled, or ordained by some charlatan, visionary or guru. That I do not need to adopt a doctrine created by someone that does not live my life or my calling. I opened to the idea that I do not need to accept the teachings of others, that my best place of calm and ‘being’ comes in the presence of my Horses. They are a conduit through which the Divine speaks to me.

I embraced the certainty that my ever present calling to be among Horses is not a hobby, or a lifestyle, it is the daily script that creates our own version of enlightenment and our own Spiritual Philosophy.

We do not need to know in advance what we believe. We simply breathe in the invitations as they come and decide what ideas and possibilities we choose to keep company with, and what teachings and assumptions do not support our Soulful evolution. In the presence of my Horses there is less concern about the acceptability of this Mystical Faith in relation to the masses, and there is a full accepting that we were predestined to form our own creed as we lean ever deeper into the Mystic and this dialogue of Souls. This is our religion.

Relating as Souls in a world that asks for us to be separate or to determine hierarchy and approval is not included or allowed in our doctrine. My Horses understood long before I did, that how we connect and interact with what is Divine, is intimate and powerful for us and needs no interpretation or approval by anyone else. After all, we are the ones that walk this path, we are the ones that carry the messages for this experience. Together we bring insight to the questions and challenges of this Earth. We do this without questions or conditions and we catch each other when we fall.

Commitment to our relationship as Souls is what keeps us grounded and connected. It is what inspires us and brings us balance in a world that is not in alignment with our belief that we share Spiritual Blood. It is what restores hope in times of darkness and invites us to open our eyes to see beyond despair and broken dreams. What is Divine within each of us assures we are able to do this for each other. For me, this has required that I detach from former teachings of Religion and Spirituality and make space for our own authentic Soulful instruction. This has freed me from feeling like I have failed despite all of my prior study and Spiritual perseverance. This Mystical Faith is what keeps us company as Horse and Human. It is our Religion. Our Faith. This gives us freedom to recognize our own spirit of purpose and live more authentically, here we co-create our own Spiritual Philosophy.

The Invitation

Notice if you share a deep Soulful conversation with your Horse(s), and what does this conversation say? Is your Spiritual Journey with your Horse created in your daily tasks and musings or do you incorporate other teachings into your Journey together? Recognizing the Soul of the Horse is key in the evolution of Horse and Human, and for Soulful exploration. It is necessary if we are to expand our possibilities. If you are to create your own Spiritual Philosophy with your Horse, what does it say and how does it feel?
