Horses as Avatars

In Sanskrit the word Avatar translates, ‘God takes Human form’, or ‘a manifestation of a Deity or released soul in bodily form on earth, an incarnate Divine teacher’. So, in keeping with the idea that ‘God is watching us through the eyes of the Horse’, this would make the Horse symbolic of an Avatar.

For those of us that incorporate the Horse into our Spiritual Quest this make sense. We are called by them, as we are called to explore our Souls purpose. We are linked inexplicitly to the Horse for reasons that we cannot explain, and… we are Souls in a Human experience, something that we often cannot explain. Yet, we know it as truth.

I believe this not only relates to our experience with the Horse, but it relates equally to our own Soul journey. We are being watched. By the Horse, by the world around us, and by the invisible witness of Divine as we navigate the waters of our life experience. Who are we ‘being’ in our decisions, in our representation? How do we act or react to the signals from our Horse? From those around us that watch with interest our interactions with our Horses that we say are our Spiritual confederates?

Can we hold true to what we believe our personal journey to be about, or do we check into what is current in the media around us? Can we make a stand to celebrate our collaborative pursuit towards nirvana as ordained by our agreements between Horse and Human, or do we consider the diluted suggestions of the masses? Can we risk being ostracized should we dare to escape the lasso of conformity and create a co-enlightened life with our Horse?

The answer lies in who you answer to. Common thoughts of society, or the call from the Divine within Horse and Human. This is not to suggest that these two outlooks are incompatible, but it is to suggest that you are accountable for choosing which one you will answer. If you have allied with your Horse in the Quest for Soulful pursuit, then this is where answers and celebrations are found.

I often look to my Horses when I need to make decisions that keep me true to my internal wisdom. I find that when I align with their presence, I better know how to choose thoughts or opinions that keep me focused on my True North, my place of balance and knowing who I am independent of the world around me. For me, they are Avatars, I respect the stability they provide, the possibility that they suggest, and their seductive Magick that keeps me believing in more than my eyes can see.
