I am not a trainer, but I start my Horses. Because I spend a lot of time with them, I know them and backing them is a non-issue. Because we spend so much time together, they go along with each new process trusting that it is safe and just something else that we do. Then, I reach for an instructor to help us with education so that we can become better together.
I am aware of the dangers of untrained Horses, but because of our relationship I step up and do what I think needs to be done, and trust that we will support each other the best we can at this place in our connection. I am not bold and forward in the beginning, but I trust that we came together ‘On Purpose’ and we have things to share and to learn from. That our life together is intentional.
Later on I find that sometimes I am remiss and will rush or start to make assumptions, and I forget about the importance of being ‘On Purpose’. And in time I notice that when I am not ‘On Purpose’ we have disconnect.
For those of us that are Soul Inspired eQUESTrians, the relationship and all of its benefits are what matter the most, so, if we have disconnect some of the value of being together is compromised. This is an obvious sign that we are not ‘On Purpose’ in our commitment to honor and bring out the best in each other.
Our Purpose of being together is personal to each of us and our Horse, and when we keep company with this Purpose we both stay connected with our inner truth and we both receive benefit.

The Invitation
Perhaps you are aware of what Purpose you and your Horse share, but if not, consider taking time to discover this illuminating awareness. Tools to help reveal this might be: meditation, recessive handwriting, journaling or Socratic writing. Knowing this will help to remind you to stay ‘On Purpose’ in your relationship with your Horse.
